Subretinal drusenoid deposits associated with complement-mediated IgA nephropathy.

چکیده
Subretinal Drusenoid Deposits AssociatedWith Complement-Mediated IgANephropathy Complement-mediated IgA nephropathy is themost common causeofchronicglomerulonephritisworldwide.Thepathogenesis of renal damage is related to complement activation secondary to IgA immune complex deposition in the glomerulus. To our knowledge, this is the first report of IgA nephropathy associatedwithbilateral subretinaldrusenoiddeposits (SDDs). A hypothesis for the role of complement is proposed.

Subretinal drusenoid deposits in non-neovascular age-related macular degeneration: morphology, prevalence, topography, and biogenesis model.
PURPOSE To characterize the morphology, prevalence, and topography of subretinal drusenoid deposits, a candidate histological correlate of reticular pseudodrusen, with reference to basal linear deposit (BlinD), a specific lesion of age-related macular degeneration, and to propose a biogenesis model for both lesion. METHODS Donor eyes with median death-to-preservation of 2:40 hours were postfi...
متن کاملExperimental IgA nephropathy
An animal model for IgA immune complex nephritis was developed. IgA immune complexes formed in vitro with an IgA anti-dinitrophenyl (DNP) derived from MOPC-315 plasmacytoma, and dinitrophenylated bovine serum albumin (DNP-BSA) produced mild focal glomerulonephritis in mice. Similar, but more severe pathological changes were produced with complexes formed in vivo either in normal mice or MOPC-31...
متن کاملReticular Pseudodrusen on Infrared Imaging Are Topographically Distinct from Subretinal Drusenoid Deposits on En Face Optical Coherence Tomography.
PURPOSE To evaluate the quantitative and topographic relationship between reticular pseudodrusen (RPD) on infrared reflectance (IR) and subretinal drusenoid deposits (SDD) on en face volumetric spectral domain optical coherence tomography. METHODS Reticular pseudodrusen were marked on IR images by a masked observer. Subretinal drusenoid deposits were visualized on en face sections of spectral...
متن کاملIgA nephropathy with complement deficiency.
We treated a female patient suffering from immunoglobulin A (IgA) nephropathy and congenital deficiency of the ninth component of the complement system (C9). She was admitted with hematuria and proteinuria, and the C9 deficiency was diagnosed based on the low hemolytic activity of 50 % of the hemolytic unit of the complements (CH50) and the normal C3 level in the plasma. Renal biopsy revealed m...
متن کاملThe Origin and Activities of IgA1-Containing Immune Complexes in IgA Nephropathy
IgA nephropathy (IgAN) is the most common primary glomerulonephritis, frequently leading to end-stage renal disease, as there is no disease-specific therapy. IgAN is diagnosed from pathological assessment of a renal biopsy specimen based on predominant or codominant IgA-containing immunodeposits, usually with complement C3 co-deposits and with variable presence of IgG and/or IgM. The IgA in the...
